Default help! crying time isn't decreasing???

hello there! i am totally new to this site but glad i found it!
I have a question or rather a concern. I just started the crying it out method recently, and I was under the impression that the amount of crying before bedtime was supposed to decrease? Is it common for it not too? the first night he cried 1 1/2 hours, second night 1 hour and 10 minutes, last night an hour and 5 minutes, and tonight he is currently still crying and is at an hour and 5 minutes. It's very exhaustive for both of us (baby and I). I am starting to lose hope! please please please please! let me know if it is common for the crying to not decrease right away?? or is this a lost cause since I have read that crying it out isn't for every baby? thanks!
ps- i do the soothing and feeding beforehand that doesn't exceed a half hour etc as the book by weissbluth suggests. thanks
