Icon5 CIO sharing a room?

Hi ladies. My husband and I have pretty much decided to start CIO with our 7 month old. She's waking 3 times a night (between 10pm-7am) and none of us are sleeping well with this. When she wakes up she's back asleep in minutes if I nurse her, but she will scream for a long time if I try to soothe her any other way. Right now she's still sleeping in her pack n play in our room, but we are going to be moving her into the crib in her room. We're ready to do it, but we have one snag holding us back: she will be sharing the room with our 3 year old. Have any of you tried to do this when the baby is sharing a room with an older sibling?

Unless your 3 year old can sleep through the crying, it probably won't work. Is there any other room you could put the baby in during the CIO time period? Could your older child sleep in your room until the baby is sleeping through the night in her room? I used a fan in the hallway to block the noise from Nolan's crying so my older kids wouldn't wake up, but they each have their own rooms. I hope you find something that works. I know not getting enough sleep just doesn't work when you have older children.

Thanks Ann. I think we're going to try putting our older daughter in our room during the transition. Hopefully it'll work alright, DH goes to bed an hour earlier than DD does when he has to work the next day, then has to get up at 4:20am. It's really the only option though, so we'll see how it goes. Our house is pretty small, just the two bedrooms and living/dining/kitchen area (and bathrooms of course). If she does wake up when DH does, she can just curl up in bed with me and go back to sleep. Thanks again for the input!
