Hi Micha,
It would probably be helpful for you to check out many of the other posts on this site about different books, DVD's, and web sites. Just a quick overview of my favorites (and those of many others):
SIGNING TIME DVD's are the best!!!!!!!!!! I can't say that enough!!! Check them out at
www.signingtime.com. They will help you and your son and your baby all learn to use ASL and they are fun!!! I would definitely start there!!!
As for books, Joseph Garcia's "Sign with your Baby" is great, as is Stacy Thompson's "Teach Your Tot To Sign". They both have many signs (about 250 in the Garcia one and about 550 in the Thompson one) that would be helpful to use with kids/babies. You can check out
www.sign2me.com for the Garcia one, or get them both online at someplace like
www.allbookstores.com,
www.overstock.com, or
www.amazon.com.
You can also check out the Sign2Me web site for lots of additional resources at
www.sign2me.com. In their links section there is a great video signing dictionary where you can look up signs and watch a video of them being done (I think it's listed as ASL browser).
Good luck!! If you have any questions, feel free to email me at
signsofearlylife@comcast.net.
