to start signing with my baby? she's 8 months old. I just started researching it and LOVING it so far. and my mom and i are thinking of taking a class together to possibly become teachers sometime down the road. i was just wondering if its too late and if not if anyone has any suggestions on where to start.
My daughter is 8months old, i have a 5yr old little boy and happily married for 2 years! and my name is samantha
I think now is a great time to start. Everything that I've read/seen has supported the idea that even if you start with an older baby there is many benefits. I think that as long as you, DH and your DS all sign consistantly to your DD that she'll catch on quickly and will still reap all the benefits of signing. JMO
Nope! I just started with CJ at 6 months... I'm told the key is consistancy. I'm using signing times as an aid - but mostly I'm the one he's watching sign.

My daughter didn't make her first sign until she was 13 months old. Now she is 20 months and she still uses signs and doesn't talk much. Sometimes she will use a word and a sign together. I am SO glad I taught her some signs - otherwise communication would be awfully hard. 8 months is definitely not too late to start.
By no means is it too late. I started at 9 months and she learned but it was a few months later. Then a few months after her first sign she started picking them up easily.
