Default signing names

how do you do it? Do you spell it out or are there signs for names? I am wanting to sign Hunters name but Ive tried to look up about signing names and have yet to find anything...

Hi Sarah,

This is kind of a hot topic. Unless your son has been given a name sign by a Deaf person, you are supposed to fingerspell his name. However, it is accepted to tap the first initial of the person's name (or pet's name) over your heart.

Thanks for answering this one Emma! It is a VERY hot topic in the Deaf community. This is one of those things that can get you in trouble too! If you don't know enough sign. I have seen people make-up name signs that were not so nice! The safest way is just what Emma said. Realizing that we can't really fingerspell our baby's name each time we want to call their name.
