I have posted a few times so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Jill and I have a son Nathan who is 17 months Old. I have been signing with him from the age of 10 months. It took him 3 months to sign back to me. He is now using about 30 signs, and is talking ALOT!!! I couldn't even tell you how many words he has said and continues to say on an everyday basis. I am also a Baby Sign Language Instructor. My Major was Sign Language Communication in College. I have already seen amazing results with my son thus far and look forward to seeing more in the future!!!

I'm Meg, and my daughter Sophia is almost 8 months. We've been babysigning to her for about three months and she just started signing back this weekend - diaper change and bottle! Very useful!

Anyway, I'm hoping we can consistently teach and use more signs. Glad to be here!

Hi! I'm Dianna, mom to Elena who's a 12 months old.

I heard about signing when I was pregnant and thought I'd like to do it. We started when she was about 4mos, but with a skeptical mil and dh we only did it for a little while before stopping. I periodically would throw a sign in here and there though. We started again when she was 11.5mos, and she signed her first sign on her birthday - eat - though we realize now that it means "I need something" not just eat. She uses it for eat, drink (water), milk (nursing), AND potty/diaper change so we're trying to teach her some other signs to distinguish between all these things. Still, it's much nicer than crying!! And dh is thouroughly convinced now that he's seen her do it. mil still thinks it's nonsense. |

She's also has made up signs for "pick me up" - doesn't every kid though? - "bye", and "that's interesting/I want to see that/take me there"
