It's Great to Continue using sign language even after they start talking
I'm not for sure if I'm the only one who was the one continuing with sign language even though my boy been speaking clearly and well for more than 4 yrs!
As I praticed teaching Brendan the ABC's I would sign the ABC's to him he may not want to copy it right now but I will still continue using sign language because when he gets into gradeschool next year their may be some deaf kids and i would like him to go oh wow I can talk to them!
I found out is very benefical and to keep it going because even customers in a work place may need it- I actually did need it when I was working in arby's as a hostess way before 2001 but after 98 .
A couple was in there one was hearing and one was deaf so I was able talk to the 'deaf man ' and when his hearing wife was gone for a doctor appt I had to help my co-workers of what he was saying because they didn't know sign language and I even told him how much the total was.
I learned sign language in highschool at least 13 yrs ago in 98-2001 I joined the SHHH organization that is the hearing impaired organization I made alot of good friends!
Not only that when I just had my son in california in our apartment there was a 'deaf mother' with her child and I was able to talk to her!
