Default September Cooking Smart Newsletter

ANNOUNCING... a new Recipe Contest in our Contest Forums here. Every month we will hold a contest that will end on the 25th of each month. Any kind of recipe can be submitted; dessert, main course, beverage, whatever, and our judges will decide the winner and that winner will receive 1000 Points and Prizes points.
The first contest will start Sept. 1st and will end Sept. 25th with the announcement on the 28th. Each new month will bring a new chance for a new winner. So warm up those recipes ladies. Good luck everyone!!!!!

If you have any questions you would like answered, please let us know and we will help you as soon as possible. If it's an emergency, we'll get to it right away. If it's just a general question, then I'll put it in the next newsletter and maybe it will help out the next person who might have the same question.

Found this in last month Good Housekeeping and thought it was a great way to get your kids to cook with you. It's a website for kids called www.spatulatta.com It was a given an award in excellence in food journalism and it features two sisters, Isabella 10 and Olivia 8 from Illinois. Every two weeks they post a new video that teaches kids how to cook an entire meal. Check it out with your kids and maybe you can get them interested in cooking a meal a week for the family from start to finish.

Our Get-To-Know-You question this month is What's your favorite thing about Fall? If you have any questions you would like answered, please let us know and we will help you as soon as possible. If it's an emergency, we'll get to it right away. If it's just a general question, then I'll put it in the next newsletter and maybe it will help out the next person who might have the same question. All our hosts need to answer in the Leaders board along with the P&P names so they can receive their points.

Our Hostess with the Mostess this month is RodeoNan, Hostess of Help I need a Recipe and Chatter's Cafe. Congrats Nancy!

This month's Featured Forum is Crockpot Cuisine. Since it's starting to get cool out, and those easy, warm meals are very satisfying LOL. So everyone check it out and warm up those bellies. Here's a link to help you find your way here

We want to send out our thoughts and prayers to Jacey from the June '06 board. She just lost her husband in a car accident last week. Our prayers and best wishes are with her and her kids.

And to one of our favorite board members, JavaJill. Her son Brandon gave up his struggle after his stroke and has passed away. Jill was enroute to another one of her son's side after a catastropic car accident when she was given the news. Thankfully Nick is doing better and will hopefully soon recovery fully. All our prayers and good wishes go out to Jill and her family in this time of grief and sadness yet joy at Nick's recovery. It would be great that if you have some money that you could spare for her, we are taking donations to help pay for funeral costs and money that it's taken to travel back and forth for both sons. Please PM Sarah, Bubbly_1, for information about donation money for JavaJill. Thank you.

Please join in our thoughts, prayers, and good wishes for our SK families

'Stumbling On Happiness' by Daniel Gilbert

A smart and funny book by a prominent Harvard psychologist, which uses groundbreaking research and (often hilarious) anecdotes to show us why we're so lousy at predicting what will make us happy - and what we can do about it.

We don't have an interim Community Director yet for Cooking Smart, so please contact any of the Community Directors here. We would be happy to help with any questions or problems you might have. Here's a contact list that you can use. I'm sure that someone will be named Community Director very soon and will be around all the time to help out. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is something you need in the meantime.
