Italian Seasoning

Blend any of these together:

Basil, orgeano, rosemary and ground red pepper

I also add garlic powder to mine

For one teaspoon apple pie spice; substitute

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and
1/8 teaspoon cardamon

Substitute for Ketchup


Mix 1 cup tomato sauce with 1/2 cup sugar & 2 tablespoons vinegar

Butter: For one cup: Use 7/8 cup oil and a teaspoon salt; or, just the 7/8 cup oil

For one cup of chili sauce; use the following:

one cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of ground cloves
Dash of allspice

For one cup of corn syrup

Use one fourth cup sugar plus one fourth cup of whatever liquid is called for in the recipe


You could also use one cup of honey as a replacement

For cream cheese; you can substitute either park skim milk ricotta cheese; or, low fat cottage cheese. Beat them until they are smooth.

7/8 cup buttermilk with 3 tablespoons butter

Whip Cream: Use a 13oz can chilled evaporated milk. Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice and whip til stiff.
