Default Insect Themed Summer Reading Party

This summer our theme for the Summer Reading Party is BUGS. We always have a party at the end, that is usually a picnic theme. I have been working on coming up with "insect" themed foods to serve. I have the obvious things like ants on log, and bug themed cakes or cookies, and bug juice (several recipes for that)....BUT what I need is a sandwich idea. How can I incorporate the bug theme with hot dogs or hamburger or a sandwich??? We will be fixing for 100-175 people so the easier the better.

Thanks

For Halloween, My pre-schoolers had a story book parade. And I took their baby sister ( new born ) to the parade dressed as "The Very Hungry Caterpilar".

After we made Caterpillar snacks out of this:

One Ritz cracker as the head
Two raisins as eyes
Green and Purple seedless grapes (green, purple, green, purple,) as the body
Pretzel sticks as arms/legs (optional) left it up to the children
and
we layed it all out on a lettuce leaf -
It was super cute! I have pics somewhere, I will have to show you!

I have also heard of ladybug bagels....
you frost them with strawberry cream cheese, which is pink, but add three drops of red food coloring and mix it with a mixer before you frost, and then dot them with chocolate sprinkles or raisins?
This one I have never tried, but it sounded cute to me, and I seen the idea on Sesame Street =)
