On the go breakfast bars (Ages 10 and up)
BREAKFAST BARS ** Reprinted from Spatulatta.com**
Makes 12 Go Bars
You'll need: - 1/2 cup brown sugar - firmly packed
- 3/4 stick butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup of nuts - optional
- Cooking spray
- A little adult help
Equipment: - A large mixing bowl
- A large spoon
- 8 X 8 inch square baking pan
- Hot pads
- A trivet
- Cream sugar and butter together. You can do it by hand or with a mixer but remember, you burn calories if you do it by hand.
- Add the vanilla and the egg, mix well.
- Stir in the oats and cranberries.
- Spray the bottom the pan.
- Press the dough into the pan.
- Bake at 350 F for 35-40 minutes or until the top is brown and the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from the oven and set it on the trivet to cool. When cool, cut into bars.
