Default why vegetarian?

So why are you vegetarian? or even if you just like to make some meatless dishes now and then?

At first I started out in 1990 because of animal rights. Then I immediately noticed my health changed. I lost weight and I started feeling so much better. I have stayed vegetarian primarily because of health reasons now and I believe in these days that it is better for the environment. I did stray now and then during the past 14 years and ate fish on occasion (mainly when I was pregnant :b ) Past few years I have started cutting out dairy and again I noticed another improvement in my health. ! I can't say I'm totally vegan but I'm close and maybe in a few years I will be.

I was a vegitarian for four years...but then my anemia got really bad and iron pills make me sick to my stomach...my two options were to eat meat or to get iron injections...those things hurt...and it was a pita to go in for them. so I started eating meat every once in awhile...now I do about half my meals with meat and half my meals are vegitarian...
I became a vegiatarian for health reasons so I try and make healty meat dishes when I do the meat meals...

I don't consider myself vegetarian. But I do make meatless dishes now and then because I'm trying to increase my family's vegetable intake

I was a vegetarian for 5 years in the past as a teenager. When I got married I started eating meat out of laziness of not wanting to make 2 meals. We didnt have it every night though. The first time I ate it again I threw up all over a parking lot. LOL

About a month ago I watched a video on PETA about the treatment of the animals, and the pic of them cutting open the cows throat and it not dying and walking around moaning will forever haunt me. I became a vegetarian again on Dec 6 this year, the minute I watched that video. I still eat eggs and milk but I only buy organic/free range.

I never liked meat. The rule was that I had to eat four bites of whatever meat we had for dinner, usually steak or pork chops, when I was little. I would smother it in catsup or A1 or whatever I could find to mask the taste. It wasn't hard to give it up.
I just don't understand killing and eating animals and I cannot put it in my mouth. I really drive my husband nuts because he's a big meat eater and he's always wanting me to "try" something but I won't give in, ever. He just can't understand.
So I guess my reasons are animal rights/welfare, health, and just taste.
