This came from the June '01 board. It sounds so good and looks so easy! I think I'm going to make it tonight. I love that you don't have to boil the noodles first, so it's pretty much a one pan thing.
BAKED MACARONI & CHEESE
Ingredients:
3 tbsp margarine
2 1/2 cups of uncooked elbow macaroni
4 cups of whole milk *use less if you use a low fat milk
salt & pepper to taste
2 cups grated cheese (sharp is the best)
Melt butter in the bottom of a 9x13 glass pan
Pour uncooked macaroni into pan and stir until noodles are coated with butter
Stir in cheese, salt and pepper
Pour milk over noodles & cheese and stir lightly
(Hint: I add one egg to the milk and blend before pouring it over the noodles. The egg cooks and helps hold everything together better)
Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Serve and enjoy.
