I've seen recipes that instruct you to cook an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk in boiling water for 3 hours, to caramelize it for pies, etc. I've also heard many people claim they've done it successfully for many years. I'd really like to try it, but Eagle Brand says it's not recommended and suggests other ways to caramelize their product.

Just wondering, if any of you have tried boiling an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk?
