Delightful Sugar Cookies (give yourself 2 nights, dough is very soft and needs to be kept cold!)
Dough:
1 1/2 sticks of softened butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 large egg
1 tbsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/4 cup flour
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp peppermint flavoring (go easy this goes a long way!)
water added to make a thin glaze
Piping:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
water added to make icing spreading consistency
Dough:
Beat ingredients except flour in large bowl until creamy. Add flour.
Divide dough into quarters. Refridge overnight.
Heat oven to 350*.
Take dough out one section at a time and roll out between sheets of waxed paper. Cut out snowflake shapes. Slide onto baking sheet and freeze 10 minutes.
Bake 11 minutes. Cool.
Cut cookies into snowflake shapes.
Paint on peppermint glaze with a pastry brush.
Sprinkle with sugar or decorating glitter.
Pipe on the decorating frosting (if you dont have a decorating tip/bag use a zip lock back with the very tip of the corner cut for an instant bag
