Default Chocolate Muddies (cookies)

These were originally posted on my June 2002 board. Natalie was gracious enough to let me copy and paste this here

Chocolate Muddies

Prep time 30 minutes
Bake 1 hr 15 miuntes
Yields about 5 dozen

Ingredients:
1 package (3 oz) Cream cheese, softened
3/4 c. Stick margarine or butter, softened
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp almond extract
2 large egss
2/3 c. chocolate fudge ice cream topping
2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 c baking cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 c vanilla milk chips
1/2 package (11.5 oz size) milk chocolate chips (1 cup)
2 packages (3 oz each) bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped (1 cup)

Preparation directions:

1) Heat oven to 350*. Line cookie sheet w/ aluminum foil or cooking parchment paper; if using foil, grease w/ shortening.

2) Beat cream cheese & margarine(or butter) in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed about 2 minutes until fluffy. Add sugars, vanilla, almond extract, eggs, & ice cream topping. Beat about 3 minutes or until fluffy.

3) Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, & salt. Stir into margarine mixture until evenly mixed. Stir in remaining ingredients.

4) drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

5) Bale 13-15 minutes or until edges are set (centers will be very soft). Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

6) ENJOY and feel guilty later.

A few of my notes.

I used 5 of the baker's bittersweet chocolate bars.
I used hot fudge ice cream topping.....probably the same as chocolate fudge
I made my teaspoonfuls pretty small and got 7 dozen instead of the 5 dozen
Parchment paper ROCKS!
You will need milk.
