Default Whats with all this

Okay Dh has seen two dr's now about his VR. Bothsaid soemthing diffrent and I am confused.
One Dr. said that the better success rate comes with going to a hospital and being put to sleep for the surgery. But we met a younger Dr. today who told us that the success rates are the same whether you are asleep or awake with a local aneasthetic (sp)
So what way do we go as one operation is cheaper.

Sorry I don't know more about VR. Have you been able to do any research of the medical literature to see which is better? Does your family doctor have an opinion?

Sorry I'm not much help... Good luck!

My Dh just had a VR last month. I don't think I have ever even heard of having a VR without being put to sleep, sounds too dangerous. The VR's are done microscopically & you have to be completely still. They actually ended up doing a VV on my Dh and I have no idea how that could have possibly been done awake. The incisions are quite large. I am very thankful we went to the hospital for the procedure, even though it cost more than outpatient.

Good Luck in your decision.

Rhonda
