Default So upset

I saw the doctor today and the blood test result says I am definitely not pregnant. He thinks the cyst is causing my period to be late. I have been crying all morning. I was so looking forward to trying again and now af is late. I have never been late like this. My sister is getting married end of June 2006 and I am the maid of honor. If I don't conceive this month I'll have to wait until November because otherwise my due date will be too close to the wedding.

I am so disappointed and feel so sad. I wake up every day thinking about the ectopic and the baby that was lost. Then I think about being able to try again and it's just such a long wait. What a confusing time.

I hope you all aren't sick of me and my worries yet. The only ones who can really understand how I feel are the ones who have been there.

Thanks for listening.

Lynn

Lynn, I'm so sorry that you didn't get the results you were expecting. I had cysts before and they also messed with my period. Are they going to give you progesterone to induce AF?

Mari,

He mentioned that my progesterone was high and I thought he said that it needs to come down so I get my period...does that make sense?? What's the longest you went without a period because of your cysts? Does ovulation have anything to do with it? I know I ovulated this cycle though.

I am so upset. This has never happened to me before and is happening now just when it was okay to try again.

Lynn,

I'm sorry your result was negative. It's good to know that it wasn't your worst fear, another EP. If you are going to wait until Novemeber to try again, take the time to relax and not think about TTC. You'll also have time to see if your cycles will go back to normal or are longer. If they don't go back to normal, you will have time to discuss what if anything you doctor recommends doing.

Lynn,
Yes, ovulation can cause a corpus luteum cyst. Its supposed to be pretty common. I never really went to long without a period because I always had it induced. I'm not sure what my progesterone levels were when I had the cysts. The theory behind using progesterone to induce your period is that once you stop taking the progesterone pill, your levels decrease, which brings on your period. I'm not really sure if it would work if your levels are already high.

Did your doctor tell you how long he/she thinks you might go without your period?

Mari,

He said to call him on Monday if I don't have it by then. I guess he'll be hearing from me because I don't feel it coming at all. I really hope everything just goes back to normal after this. How long did it take for your cycles to get back on track again after your cysts?

Thanks,
Lynn

I started getting them the first month I went off of the pill. My doctor actually found one on each ovary! They kept coming back for 4 months and then I got pregnant with my daughter on the 5th month. The doctors even found one on my left ovary when I was about 4 weeks pregnant with her. So, they don't necesarrily affect your fertility. From what the doctor told me, they really are quite common and the only way to definitely stop them is to go on birth control. Well, I was obviously against that. I think I have only had one cyst since giving birth to my daughter 2 years ago.
