Re: Question about when you know you have an ectopic
I would not hesitate to call you doctor. He can do a blood test that should be helpful. You HCG levels are typically lower than normal with an EP. Subsequent testing should determine if your HCG levels are doubling as they should. At 6 weeks, you should definately have a sack and probably a fetal pole with a heartbeat, so hopefully he would send you for an u/s too.
To answer your question, my EP was diagnosed at 7 weeks. I had already had my first OB appt and everything meaning my womb measurements were normal. I started bleeding and assumed I was having a m/c. When they did an u/s, they couldn't find anything in my womb, and found a "complex mass" in my tube.
It is very important to be checked out because if you do have an EP, they probably can treat you with MTX and preserve your tube. In my case, I lost my tube.
I really hope that it is nothing and that your ligaments are just stretching or something routine, but having been through an EP, you really should have it checked out.
Please post an update, even if everything is ok. Your in my prayers.
