Default question to GA moms

Hi,
I'm looking for a good and not very expensive insurance here in GA. I'm pretty confused and have no idea which one to choose. They either dont cover some important services or have some incredibly high deductibles or cover the most and with low/no deductibles but are VERY expensive (i mean the monthly payment).
I must admit I dont quite understand american insurance - like I'm paying monthly, but to make my insurance REALLY work i must first pay like 1000$ of deductible??? Thats pretty crazy, cause then I still have to pay a fee for most services anyway...
What's better? pay that high deductible and have low monthly payment, or choose higher payment and low/no deductible?
I'm really lost... I guess I am spoiled by european insurance, where you pay only monthly payment and that covers most services with no additional fees. But being here on insurance from europe (it has to be international so its really too expensive to continue) is not an option anymore for me so I need to find something.
ANY help will be appreciated!!

In case you are still searching, have you checked into Peachcare? It is alot like Medicaid. You pay a very small monthly payment and there is no deductable whatsoever. The monthly payment goes up as your child gets older but it is still very cheap. You may or may not qualify depending upon how much your salary is.
Here is a link: http://www.peachcare.org/
