For 10 years, Verizon Wireless has dedicated resources and wireless technology to address domestic violence through the company's HopeLine? program. In honor of HopeLine's 10th anniversary, Verizon Wireless offers " HopeLine: How and Why Central Pennsylvania Residents Should Get Involved."
1. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time for all Americans to help victims of domestic violence and to work together to address this tragic problem.
2. A no-longer-used wireless phone can serve as a lifeline for victims of domestic violence and donating a phone is as easy as 1-2-3. Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program collects no longer used wireless phones and equipment at the company's Communications Stores throughout the area, including:
* 1901 Columbia Boulevard, Bloomsburg
* 947 Wayne Avenue, Chambersburg
* 4650 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg
* Chelsea Square Shopping Center, 1615 Manheim Pike, Lancaster
* Cumberland Marketplace, 6560 Carlisle Pike, Suite 430, Mechanicsburg
* Susquehanna Valley Mall, Rt 11 & 15, Space A-4, Selinsgrove
* 161 S. Memorial Highway, Trucksville
* Loyal Plaza, 1931 E. Third St., Williamsport
* York Galleria Mall, 1 York Galleria #150, York
3. A donation to HopeLine also helps the environment by keeping excess waste out of landfills. The used phones are either refurbished or recycled, with proceeds benefiting victims of domestic violence.
4. Customers getting a jump start on their holiday shopping, can make some room to store all the new gifts by donating the chargers, batteries, or wireless phones collecting dust in their drawers and closets.
5. Customers can start a HopeLine phone drive in their local communities. To help get the program off to a great start, people or organizations interested in holding wireless phone drives, should visit the HopeLine Website at
www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline for more information.

6. Donated phones can easily be mailed out along with the bills and other mail. The no-longer-used wireless phones can be mailed to: Verizon Wireless HopeLine, c/o ReCellular Inc., 2555 Bishop Circle, W.Dexter, MI 48130.
7. If you think someone you know is being abused, you can contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE or 800-787-3224 (TTY). If you have a Verizon Wireless phone, you can dial #HOPE to be connected to the hotline. These calls are free.
8. Nearly one in three women will experience abuse in her lifetime. Domestic violence touches all walks of life and does not discriminate against age, race or social class. Donating a phone to HopeLine this October, is one quick and easy way to support domestic violence awareness.
Over the past 10 years, HopeLine has grown into a multifaceted program that includes a successful phone recycling and re-use effort, financial support for local and national domestic violence organizations, community and corporate awareness programs, and partnerships with law enforcement agencies, professional sports teams, educational institutions and corporations nationwide.
