Default Moving to Minneapolis! Advice needes pls.

Hi All!

Our family is possibly moving to the Minneapolis area. My DH's office will be in Brooklyn Park. We have been looking at real estate in the area and would love some advice. We have yet to get up there and visit. We have a 4 year old DS and a 1 1/2 year old DD. What cities in that general area would you recommend? We are moving from an outer suburb of Milwaukee. We want to know about schools. Our DS has been attending 4k for half days 5 days a week. This is standard in our town - no special needs. We've noticed some really big school districts - not that big is bad, we just want to know what the thoughts are about the schools. What programs are there for 4 year olds? We would like to keep the commute fairly short (under 30 minutes), but also have some convenience to the cities since it is somewhat a sales job. TELL IT ALL!

Thanks,
Laura

Well, I don't have much advice about schools, other than that the Anoka-Hennepin school district is the largest in the state. I believe that includes Anoka, Champlin, Coon Rapids, and parts of Ramsey. I live in Champlin which is a great little burb. It's safe and cozy and about 20 min. to downtown Mpls.

As for Real Estate, my husband is an agent and I'm sure he would be glad to help you out if you don't already have an agent! Let me know if you're interested.

Oh, and I would advise not living in Brooklyn Park. It's not the greatest area, but Champlin is just directly north of there and it's so nice here. Dayton is also really nice too.

Thanks for your replies. We went up there this past week and checked out the area. We are already hooked up with an agent - so thanks, but sorry we're taken care of.
We are leaning toward Blaine or Maple grove areas. We would be able to find a newer home in Blaine. We are coming from a home we built 2 years ago, so it is hard to go to an older home. However, Maple grove seemed pretty nice too and had lots of convenience too.

We're taking the kids up with us Wed - Fri and we will find our home. - I hope-

Thanks again
Any more input regarding those areas is appreciated

Laura
