Default Breastfeeding Legislation

Does every one know it was signed on Monday that you can breastfeed anywhere? I am very happy to know this because with ds, I was asked to leave a couple resturants for (descretely) breastfeeding at the table.

That's fabulous news, Renee! :thumb

What did you do when you were asked to leave? I find that revolting. Honestly, you can eat there, but your son may not?

That is great news. I can't believe you were asked to leave. I breastfed my son everywhere. I tried to be as discrete as possible but I'm not sure I always succeeded lol!

The first time was a teen-age waiter just had a look of shock when he was bringing drinks to the table. He said, "eww gross" and walked awwy. Within minutes, I was asked my the manager to go into the bathroom to finish because shse was getting complaints. I told her to tell the complainers to go in the bathroom to eat their lunches. My waiter was replaced by an older woman with 4 kids who could care less what I was doing.
The second time, I heard comments and was offered the managers office to finish feeding. I just said, "No thanks, I'm comfortable here." When someone at the next table responded, "But you are making it uncomfortable for the rest of us." I turned around and told her that 1. She was sitting behind me ans seeing nothing. And 2. God made women with breasts to feed their young, not as toys or sexual objects. She was throughly offended and my dh couldn't stop laughing (Neither could the manager who came over to talk to me.) I ended up with a meal on the house. The woman behind me got up and left before her food arrived, so they offered us what her table had ordered plus whatever we wanted.
I should mention, I breastfed whereever I needed to in order to be comfortable adn keep my son from going hungry. I have gotten lots of looks and comments. Some positive and some negative. I breastfed for 13 months and once my son was about 10 months, he was no longer nursed outside the house because he was just to big to do that descretely. but, when he was about 10 weeks old, I was in a nursing area in the lounge of a department store (attached to a restroom but very clean and comfortable) and an older woman cam eand sat a litle closer than I would have liked. She told me that she has 8 grandchildren and none of them were breastfed. She said that a lot of people won't do it anymore because it is an inconvience to them. I said, "what would be inconvient?" (With the mindset that I don't have to pack bottles or pay for formula and I always had food handy....) She said her daughters didn't want to give up their wine or beer! I was appauled that that was the reason. My sil doesn't breastfeed because she wants to smoke. She was outside witin an hour of having each child to have a cigarette.

I Agree!

Breasts are to feed our babies- case closed. I breastfeed but have managed to not do in public much. I usually feed him before we go somewhere but will feed him in public if needed. I think it is beautiful thing.
