Default San Fran - one day trip ideas?

Anyone from/near San Fransico on this board? I am from Montana and will be driving down to Santa Cruz for a 3 day stay before driving up to Grenada, CA to visit my grandparents this summer.

The boys wanted to catch a Giants game which I have tickets for a weekday 12:00 p.m. game and I thought we would spend the night in SF instead of driving back down to Santa Cruz and having to drive through traffic again the next morning to go north.

If we had to pick 1-2 things to do that late afternoon and evening after the ballgame with three kids 11, 8, 3 - - what would your suggestions be.

Thanks a bunch!

I am not from the area but 3 hours south of SF. Going to the game will be fun. You can go to Fisherman's wharf on Pier 39 (very touristy). There is Golden Gate Park with museums but if you are going to the Giants game, I would suggest Pier 39. Enjoy!! I have yet to go to see a Giants game in SF since they built the new stadium. Have a fun safe trip.

I would take one of the cable cars...and I agree about going to Pier 39 or go to Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory...it's a bunch of shops also on the water. The boys will be able to get some yummy sundaes. Hope you have fun.

I think pier 39 will be it (as well as the crooked street they hear so much about!) The stadium is not far from the pier is it? I so am not looking forward to traffic!

Thanks for the input though!

I don't think so. But then I haven't been to the stadium yet but I don't think it will be too far from the Pier. I know that there is Bart that runs right in front of the stadium but then I am not sure what you are planning to do, take the car or take Bart and the Trollies?

Yeah- Fishermans Wharf would be great, it has an aquarium there, shops resturants, a few blocks away is Giradelli Square (and they give you free samples). There is also a part off the pier with countless Sea Lions just hanging out. I am sure your children will love it. Let us know how it goes.

Oh and wear warm clothes! We went last week and would have froze if we would have forgotten our sweatshirts.

We also went to a game last week and had a blast! Let us know how it goes.

The science museums in GG park are closed now - they are doing a couple years worth of remodeling... the Exploratorium near the Palace of Fine Arts is a fun hands on museum.
