We just went to Turlock lake a couple weeks ago.. it was great the camp areas are right on the river and a half mile to the lake. We also go camping a lot at Brannan Island on the Delta, north of Antioch in Rio Vista. The camp sites are on 3 mile slough and it pretty cool watching the larger boats pass under the draw bridges on the slough. A couple years ago we went camping at Millerton Lake its really a nice lake however it is better to go later in the summer when the water has a chance to go down because of the snakes. The same snakes live there and they have more of a chance to say out of the camp sites when they have other places to go if you know what I mean. We have been to a lot of places in the bay area if you would like to ask about any place send me an email.
wow I didnt even know turlock had a lake..LOL.. I'll check some of those places out.. Another good place we've been is del valle lake.. (not sure if thats the right spelling).. Its just west of here near livermore area..
I just went and checked out the website for Del Valle, I didnt know it existed. It's too bad the regional parks are so expensive to camp. There are a lot of camping areas listed on the Reserve Ameria website this is for state and federal areas and most places are around 12 a night and handicap is half price. I am hanidapped and used to only paying 6 or so a night so 18 is a real stretch.
