Icon7 Time for updates/photos everybody...

This is such a quiet board - with us all so busy taking care of our little ones... but if you drop in, post a short (or long!) update on you and yours...and pics if you can.

I'll go first....

Mason is 20 months old now and such a little chatterbox. He repeats all words, in some fashion! and is putting 2 words together and making sense mostly!! I love listening to him talking away in his crib....so sweet.... He finally started calling me "mummy" recently, rather than referring to both my DP and I as "mumma" as he had been for some time. He even started saying his own name this past weekend!

He continues to be an enthusiastic climber and has NO fear! He loves to hammer and bang everything...the louder the noise the better. His favorite time is spent outdoors, regardless of the weather, and at a playground is even better!

He is a great eater (unless a new tooth is coming through), but does insist on only home cooked meals and fresh fruit. Won't even taste anything out of a jar or tin! Still loves to have a bottle of milk before bed and is addicted to his dummy (pacifier) at sleep times.

I've no idea how many teeth he has as he will not let me take a look or feel....but he still seems fairly slow from what I can tell. It is impossible to get him to clean them, or for me to try and poke around with his little toothbrush or even a soft cloth. Hope this won't be a problem....

He is desperatley in need of a haircut, but after the last attempt....I'm wary - he got so upset and we only managed to cut some of his hair, leaving him very shaggy and uneven! But he is still terribly cute if I do say so myself!

Mason is also a great comedian, and often entertains us with funny faces and actions. He is such a little character! I'm amazed every day that I created such a funny little boy. My heart overflows.....

Here are a couple of fairly recent pics....I must re-size some better ones this weekend....

Hey.
This is the first time I've been on the board in awhile and I saw this post. With work and the twins, I just never seem to have time to sit down at the computer. I even have a hard time getting household bills paid

Emily and Ethan will be 1 year old in a week. I can't believe how the time has just flown by.

Ethan is cruising furniture and pushing things around. He is ready to start walking any day now. Emily is pulling up on things and starting to cruise furniture. They just getting used to eating solid foods - it's very hit and miss at this point. I think Emily is about 16.5 lb and Ethan is about 18.5 lb. Official Dr. appt is next week.

Here are a few recent pics.

Here is our update:

Riley is also 20 months old now and quite a handful! She is walking and running everywhere and I spend a lot of time chasing her around the house. She loves to be outside, and has started to throw fits when we have to come in. We bought her a swingset and she will spend hours in the swing and going down the slide. She also loves her sandbox. We went to the beach a few weeks ago, and she LOVED it!!

She has quite a few words, but still a lot of whining thrown in when we can't understand what she wants. She is pretty independent and plays well by herself, but tends to be shy around people she doesn't know.

She has a temper, and lets us know when she is not happy- but she is also so sweet and loves to give hugs and kisses, especially to our dog and cat.

We are working on a sibling right now, as I had an FET last week and feeling pretty optimistic that it worked. I will know in a few more days!!!

So, that is our update! Can't wait to hear everyone elses!

Lisa and Riley

I feel like I haven't posted here in forever also. It has been very busy with work, plus I am currently in the 2ww from an IVF attempt. Lisa ~ I hope to hear great news from you soon. My beta is Friday, 10/7, when is yours?

Mason is going to be 2 (yes, 2, I cannot believe it!) in a little more than 2 weeks (10/21).

I find myself saying all of the time that "I love this stage". It seems like I love each new stage of his development more & more. He is talking up a storm, putting words together into sentences, etc. He repeats EVERYTHING, I'm constantly reminding DH to watch his mouth

Jenn, how does your Mason pronounce his name? Mine calls himself "Fason". It is so weird because he says other words that start with an M, but uses the F for his own name.

We are slowly starting to try to get rid of the binky (pacifier). He only gets them (he sucks on one & holds another one) at naptime & bedtime, but does not want to give them up. I read in a magazine about how one family told their kids that there was a binky fairy that would come & take them home to their mommies. Well, whenever I mention it to Mason he cries, and doesn't want them to go. Ahhhh, maybe one of these days.

It's nice to hear how everyone is doing. I wish this board was more active, I miss you guys.

Oh I'm so glad some of you have checked in. I miss all my old buddies too Jen!

Cori - doesn't their first year just fly by! I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating. Your kiddies are so cute and look like they play well together.

Lisa - Sounds like you are having a similar experience with Riley as we are with Mason. I fall into bed each night exhausted from dealing with Mason. Perhaps I shouldn't use the word "dealing", but hey, our 20 month old is so headstrong and I find keeping up with him, and managing his "tantrums" quite a challenge! Of course he such a dear also....and I realish the cuddles (when he lets me). Good luck with making Riley a sibling....I look forward to seeing a BFP post from you very soon!

Jen - Mason only just started saying his name, and I'm not really sure what it sounds like yet! Certainly I only know he is saying his name because he is repeating it after me! teeheee. I know he should be able to say it....but he seems to have been fighting it for ages. It's funny how your Mason says "fason" when you know he can say "m". Funny little lads we've got huh?! Good luck with your beta I have everything crossed for you.

Anybody else lurking????? Come on, leave a post...even if you are a newbie....we would love to see some more women posting here....

Hi all

Jacob is 7 1/2 months old and is undergoing several developmental advances all at once. He just started making much more complex sounds--for months it was guh-guh-guh, and kee....kee.... and making raspberries. Now, all of a sudden he's making all sorts of noises and putting tonal sounds into his speech as well, so it sounds like he's really talking. One of the teachers at daycare swore that he said "all done" twice today after he was finished eating and getting his diaper changed. I told a friend at work that nerve myleination is an amazing thing and she said "that's about the geekiest thing I've ever heard!" 3 OTOH, giving a baby the ability to crawl without having the slightest idea of the dangers around him is an excellent argument against intelligent design.

He's also incredibly close to crawling. He's been getting up on his hands and knees for about 6 weeks now, but he can't quite figure out how to move his arms forward efficiently. He goes backwards and in circles quite well though. To go forward, he pushes himself forward by switching from being on his tummy to being up on his hands and knees.

He's also about to get a tooth! He's Mr. Droolbuckets and soaks 5-6 bibs a day. It's amazing how much drool comes out of his mouth!

He's such an incredibly happy and outgoing baby that we still can't believe how fortunate we are to have him in our lives. The adoption finalization process is starting and we hope that we'll have a court date soon.

Adopting Jacob has enriched our lives in so many ways. I'm so happy that we decided to go through with adoption after our TTC efforts failed. Our lives are full of laughter, joy and love.

I'm going to sticky this topic in the hope we can draw out a few more of our old buddies....

oh and I forgot to reply to your update Karen....Jacob is an adorable bee! I can see from your post that you are so happy and that Jacob is a real little gem! The "all done" is too cute! It really is amazing how much our little ones pick up and understand.... My DP and I were blown away last week when Mason saw some Christmas decorations in a shop window (way to early IMO!) and said "ho ho ho". I mean, how does he remember Christmas, after all he was only 11 months and it was almost a year ago!! amazing.....

Anyone else like to add a post update.....
