icon16 Time for January updates from everybody

I will start with an update on Mason

Mason turned 3 on Saturday 13th January 2007. He had a pirate themed party, with a Treasure Hunt and swimming too (summer here). Presents from mummy and mumma: Lightening McQeen 2 wheeler bike (with trainer wheels), roaring/moving T Rex dinasour, Captain Feathersword hat and sword.

Mason has 17 teeth - that means he still has 3 x 2yo molars to come through I think - YIKES! The first one came through over Christmas and it caused him much pain and discomfort - and meant he missed out on the yummy Christmas dinner his nanna cooked.

Mason is a big talker, uses full sentences and long words. You can have a great conversation with him at his own initiation. He does have a cute little lisp though, and sometimes gets stuck on the first word and stutters, specially when in a hurry to tell something. He asks “why” but not to the point of annoyance, and is satisfied as long as you give a good long answer!

Can count to 12 correctly and then up to 20 with some messing about!

Can sing the alphabet song, of course LMNOP sounds like one funky letter!

Fav characters for dressups: Bob the Builder, Spiderman, Captain Feathersword, Superman, Policeman

Fav kids TV Shows: Australian Play School, Hi Five, Wiggles, The Upside Down Show, Blues Clues, Lazy Town, Charlie and Lola, Dora

Fav toys: tools

Likes to kick around a soccer ball and try and bat with his new cricket bat.

Very attached to his well loved and well washed soft doggy and his dummy(paci) still.

Loves books and needs at least 3 read to him at bedtime. Would like more! Recently started reading to himself too.

Is wearing size 3 clothing, is about 100cm (39.37") tall and just over 16 kilos (35.5lbs) in weight. Likes to have a say in what he is wearing. Likes clothes, even as a present. Will always want to try on anything new.

Has been toilet training for the past 3 months with mixed success. Does well at Day Care, but not so good at home. Recently discovered peeing on trees….

Still loves his “hot” milk in a sippy cut first thing in the morning and whenever he is feeling tired or sad.

Not so great on the veggies any more….bit picky and chosey. Likes meat on the bone such as chicken drumsticks and little lamb chops or cutlets. LOVES spaghetti Bolognese and most pasta dishes. Enjoys rice dishes. Choses strawberries and yogurt for dessert. Wont swallow raw apple; insists on a whole peeled apple, but only chews and spits pulp out. Likes grapes, bananas, sultanas and kids cheese strips. Starting to show a preference for CHOCOLATE cakes! Not a big sweets eater, does like the occasional snake or freddo frog. For breakfast asks for “eggy toast”, egg, bacon and mushrooms! For cereal has weetbix or ricebubbles.

Still not big on kisses or cuddles. But when he does instigate them our hearts melt! Very occasionally tells us “love you mumma/mummy”.

Okay so who is next with an update?

Hi Jenn! I haven't posted over here for a while but I do check now and then ... and now finally I have a chance to post! I will try to get back over here more often!

What a great update! Sounds like all kinds of things are happening! And I loved the "has discovered peeing on trees!" Cracked me right up!

Mandy and Marcy turned 1 last week. I just can't believe it! It really hit me yesterday when I turned the TV on and I saw the Australian Open (tennis) on TV ... and I thought OMG, last year at this time I was watching the matches live during the 3am feedings! My, how far we have come!!! It's just so weird to see things happening again knowing that this is the second time for the girls (like American Idol!) Too funny!

I have been home from work since last Wed because Mandy had the RSV virus ... and they both had ear infections and a little pink eye ... but we got a clean bill of health today from the doc so tomorrow it will be time to get back into the normal routine of things. I never thought I would enjoy staying home with the girls as much as I have over the past week ... I thought I would go nuts and get bored, but who in the world has time for that??? Dishes, laundry, diapers, breakfast, lunch, naps, play ... makes for a very full day!

Marcy started walking this weekend, and I mean walking all the way across the room. It is such a cute thing to see! Mandy isn't far behind, but seems like she isn't in a really big hurry. We are starting to get a bit of sibling rivarly going on, too. If one is in my lap, the other one has to be there, too. If one has a toy, the other one wants it, too. And Marcy is developing quite a little temper. If she can't get a toy to do what she wants, she throws it. Nice. I think I need to do a little research on how to handle that little behavioral problem ... don't want it to get too out of control. And she has bit me a couple of times ... I jumped right on it tonight and told her "no, that hurts mommy!" and she got the message! She poked out that lip and cried! Broke my heart, but I didn't let her know that!

I guess that's pretty much the exciting stuff as of late ... can't wait to hear from everyone else!

Nausea and fatigue are starting to ease up as I head into the 2nd trimester. Everything looks great so far and I'm hoping to continue having an uneventful and healthy pregnancy.

Aileen is a funny little girl. She is always giggling and doing crazy things. She's very into the family unit. Everything is a Mommy, Daddy, and a baby. She recognizing her letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. She is avery sociable child. Whenever we go out she flirts with other people and gets upset if no one notices her. (Which rarely happens!) She's ditched the highchair.

We just moved her into a toddler bed and she's been doing great! I thought we might get her potty trained really early. We has some success peeing in the potty, but we seemed to have backtracked.
