Met with our RE today re: frozen embryos!
I had posted a few weeks ago about being very confused about what to do with our 12 frozen embryos that we have leftover. So, I decided to make an appointment with our RE with hopes that he would have a clearer picture for us. I'm so glad that we met with him because there are SO many options out there that I had no idea even existed and I feel so much better about making an informed decision!
So, when we make a final decision on whether or not going to try for #3, we have the option of 1) donating them to other couples and they would go into a bank that is available to couples all over the country to adopt, 2) we can do an open adoption with a couple from our clinic, where we would interview families and keep in contact with them, 3) donate them to a privately funded research group, 4) do a compassionate transfer on myself, this is where they would transfer all 12 of them into a part of my uterus where the embryos would not be able to attach themselves to (less than 1% chance of getting pg he says), or 5) discard them.
I would like to try for baby #3 when Cooper & Claire turn 3, but dh is not 100% onboard with that idea. If we don't have another baby, I'm not sure what I want to do, but my dh is pretty convinced that he would like to do an open adoption with someone at our clinic....he thinks that it would be really neat to select a couple and have a relationship with them, in theory I think that it is a great idea, but I don't know how I would handle this emotionally and I probably won't know until I actually went through it.
So, anyhow, I just wanted to give you an update! No matter what choice we make, we are not making it this year....we are going to pay the bill and delay it for atleast 1 more year!!
Thanks for listening!!
