Mason's baby request
A little friend of Mason's is expecting a baby brother any day now. Last night at bed time Mason looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "mummy, Marcus has a baby, I want one too". There it was, the question I've been dreading!
....so I started up with my reply, not really rehursed but vaguely thought about over the last few years.... "you are very special to your mumma and me...blah blah blah....but mummy can't have any more babies sweetie..." to be interupted by Mason with a "no mummy, a baby Shrek"
...oh then it dawned on me, this wasn't that terribly difficult, I can't grant you this wish situation...but a more typical one for a 3yo. He was hankering after a toy!
Yep, Marcus had just been given a plush toy baby-Shrek, the one that says cute things and lets out "bottom-burps"!! and my precious only-child wanted one too!
Okay, so that's when cunning mummy-brain cuts in and things aha, here is a bribe....time to get Mason to start listening to me, stay in bed blah blah blah and then we can go shopping on Saturday, and we will find one of these babies for him. This kind of baby I can provide!
...and I bet you are thinking what a sucker mummy is huh?! And you are right, this kid gets everything his heart has so far desired....ummmm see why I've been having difficulties with his behaviour? My only-child IS SPOILT! Could it be a bit guilt induced???????
