Default Mason turns 4 (xpost)

(just in case any old friends stop by...)

We had a wonderful time celebrating Mason’s 4th birthday on Sunday 13th January 2008
I can’t believe my miracle baby is now a BIG 4 YEARS OLD! My goodness how the years have flown by… Mason has been in my life for as long as it took to conceive him! It’s hard to think back to those awful sad days of longing…
I shed a couple of tears thinking how quickly he is growing, no longer my gorgeous little baby, my sweet toddler… But then again, I’m rather enjoying being mum to a handsome, chatty, bright, funny and active BIG boy. – ummm minus the early rising, the tantrums and other usual challenges! (Somebody tell me it gets easier after 4…please….)

The day was a little milder than the 105.8 we’d been having over the past weeks, at only 75.2 degrees, but the pool party went ahead and there was plenty of swimming thanks to solar heating. We are so lucky that Mason’s grandparents (my mum and stepdad) have a beautiful property with a glorious pool – wish it had been around when I was a kid!

Here are few pics, although none yet of the 16 children sitting around the tables enjoying bbq sausages, fairy bread, strawberries, cup cakes, watermelon, chocolate crackles, grapes & honey joys. Or of the 20 adults putting together their own bbq hamburgers with all the trimmings, or sipping bubbly… perhaps somebody else has them on their camera (in all the excitement we missed a few pic opportunities!)

It was a marvelous day. Much fun had by all, even by me, after I stop stressing and running around organizing everything!

The birthday boy and his cake (I baked and decorated it, as has become tradition – nothing grand, just a chocolate cake, covered in butter icing colored for sand and water, sprinkled to match and with a surfer-dude on top)

Hi Jenn, hope you don't mind me butting in here. I'm not an old friend (new one maybe?) but am wondering where abouts in australia are you from? I'm in south aust. Can't view your public profile as I'm only new.

Hi Sharryn so nice to meet you - new friends most welcome here!

I'm a Victorian, but venture over to SA at least once every 2 years as we have family there. (I don't have any info in my public profile, so don't worry, you aren't missing anything!)

Thanks. Looks like Mason had a ball at his party. We've invited about 8 kids to Bradys and he asked me how he is going to find time to play with all his friends? Having it indoors at a playcafe as the last 2 years it's been boiling hot

I think those playcafe are wonderful. We've attended a few parties held at them. Great that the parents can get a coffee and snack there too if they want! It's fun watching the littlies having so much fun running around and climbing, sliding etc.

Mason is having a few friends from his daycare, over this Sunday for a little more "typical" kids party than his first BIG bash at the pool! I'm making all the usual party food again, and the kids can run around and play in the backyard. I see the weather is forcasted only 23 and showers... better that it's milder again, and I'm sure those showers won't eventuate....mind you the water tank could use them! This will be his first party with only his friends attending.
