Recalled: SpaghettiOs, Jell-O Pudding containing potential allergens
WEDNESDAY, April 13 (HealthDayNews) — The makers of two popular foods for children have announced recalls of their products that may contain undeclared allergens.
Campbell Soup Co. said it's recalling 473,500 pounds of cans labeled "SpaghettiOs Plus Calcium" pasta in tomato and cheese sauce. The mislabeled 15 oz. cans actually contain SpaghettiOs with meatballs made of soy protein, a known allergen.
The affected cans bear the date code "AUG 2006 02105" and a package code that begins "EST 4R U5 5M." The product was produced Feb. 9 and 10 and was distributed across the United States and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said in announcing the recall. For more information, contact Campbell at 800-796-3484.
Separately, Kraft Foods said it is recalling 148,500 packages of Jell-O Brand Sugar Free Fat Free Instant Pudding and Pie Filling in white chocolate, chocolate, or chocolate fudge. The three separate products in 1.4 oz. boxes may contain pistachio nuts that are not listed on the ingredient labels, which could pose the threat of severe allergic reaction in some consumers.
The boxes are stamped 05 MAR 07 D8, 06 MAR 07 D8, or 07 MAR 07 D8, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in announcing the recall. The products were distributed nationally. For more information, contact Kraft at 800-323-4243.
