Icon4 FYI ~ Recalled: Mountain Buggy jogging strollers

Recalled: Mountain Buggy jogging strollers

THURSDAY, July 14 (BabyCenter News) — Sycamore Kids is recalling about 2,200 of its Mountain Buggy Urban single and double jogging strollers in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The handlebar can crack or break and possibly detach while the stroller's in use, posing a risk of injury to young children.

Sycamore has received 10 reports of handlebars either cracking or breaking when the stroller was pulled up or taken down stairs, but none of these incidents resulted in injury.

The recalled strollers have a metal frame with a cloth seat and a sun canopy. The strollers were sold in a variety of solid colors, including navy, red, black, silver, and orange. The words "Mountain Buggy" are written underneath a logo on a metal plate above the footrest. The word "URBAN" also appears on the metal plate.

The serial number and model number are on the back of the metal plate. The recalled Mountain Buggy Urban single strollers are item number U1204-002 and have serial numbers between 000000 and 0003342. The recalled Mountain Buggy Urban double strollers are item number U2204-002 and have serial numbers between 000000 and 006957.

Baby furniture, baby product stores, and Web retailers — including the BabyCenter Store — sold the recalled strollers from December 2004 through July 2005 for between $400 and $600. They were made in New Zealand.
