it was too wet to play...so we sat in the house on that cold, wet, wet day...
- Cat In The Hat -
Remember my lovely house. I quipped to my husband that is like "those" kind of women - the women that are drop dead gorgeous and seem to be perfect in packaging...but then you start talking to one and your realize all there is is packaging.
There is no electricity. As this area doesn't have gas (irony - husband works at a refinery that refines Natural Gas, but you can't actually get Natural Gas in the area)...we have no power.
(Yes, computer runs on batter, 3G wirless works like a cell phone - thus not affected, either - only d@mn thing in the house other than my cell phone).
It was like a comedy sketch this morning trying to figure out how you open the electric garage door with no electricity
So we are day II into "summer storm" which, frankly, looks like winter. Its cold, its wet - I've had to drag solid wooden desk 4feet back out of a HUGE puddle, all furniture is away from walls, and there are no more towels left save for the ones we use to shower and dry off with.
The millipedes are streaming into my house at a rapid rate to escape the weather, and think my house (damp, but not totally flooded) is the perfect haven. I had the whole house swept before 7am, and have already repeated and it isn't even noon.
Funnily enough, the "other" house in this development built by the same contractor has its downstairs flooded.
Estate agent has apologized, owner has personally phoned to apologize, they will have workman over once the rain stops...but sheesh - what I really want is the name of the contractor so I never, ever, by a house built by this human being. Sheesh.
Craig's boss moves out of his rental the same time our lease is up. I despise moving and didn't want to move again until we buy...but it is tempting - bigger house, has fireplace, no millipeads, has a phone, and does not leak. Oh - and the ocean is right.there.in.front.of.face ....oh...and rent is even cheaper.
The grass is always greener. . .
PS - Clara and I are going out for lunch - I'm ordering HOT food!
