My Friend
*I posted on my other thread that I had to rush to the hospital Sunday night.*
Well the reason why is, I have a friend, Vicky, who has been like my 2nd mother to me.
She has, for as long as I have known her, has been extremely over-weight. I've never known her to be under 300lbs.
Well, due to her weight, she has had VERY poor health. She almost died about 2 years ago.
Well, just recently she was having pain in her legs. We all thought it was swelling (her kidneys are shot and has to be on dialysis 3-4 days out of the week).
She went to the hospital and they couldn't find out what was wrong with her.
She was released home on oxygen due to fighting to breath and keep her oxygen levels up.
Thursday night in the middle of the night, she was up and fell. She was yelling for her daughter (Courtney, who is mentally challenged, but not very much...another LONG story!). Her daughter never heard her.
A friend (Karla) from the church just happened to be up, it was 3 am, and checking her email. Courtney emailed this lady earlier in the day and told her that her mom wasn't feeling well. So Karla just so happened to call over to Vicky's house, waking Courtney up.
When Courtney walked out of her bedroom, she found her mom on the floor. Karla talked to Vicky, then hung up and called 911.
They rushed Vicky to the hospital where after testing they found she has a blood clot in her lungs.
Sunday morning I got a call from Vicky's other daughter, Jessica (we have been "best friends" for about 20+ years). Jessica leaves a message telling me that she is on her way out (she is in AZ, I am in CA), her mom has been put on a ventilator.
Well, after I get home from church I get a call from Glenda (another friend from church) telling me that Vicky is not on a ventilator, she is actually being put on life support.
I was very upset, especially because their (Glenda & Karla) plan was to take Courtney out to see her mom, who is going on life support.
Long story short, I finally voiced my opinion and I was not happy (Melissa never voices her opinion and when she does, it's not expected and feelings were hurt).
So, my mom heads out to the hospital and Jose, the kids and I head to Youth.
I get a call from my mom & Glenda. They are telling me that I need to be out there to see Vicky. They are both very upset and upset that I was so upset & voicing my opinion and thinking that I was 'mad' at everyone...
So I apologize and try to get to the bottom of what is going on.
Well, Vicky is NOT doing well. She was put on life support because her body was not functioning. The Dr's are hoping that after being on the life support for 48 hours that her body will respond and she will be able to be taken off, but it's uncertain.
So my mom came and got me and we rushed to the hospital to see her and meet Jessica (my mom is like a 2nd mom to Jessica).
Tonight at 5pm will be the 48 hour mark. Jessica is acting like her mom is totally fine and everything is honky dory. This family is always on 'cloud 9' and nothing ever phases them, even tragedy.
So, please keep them in your prayers! If Vicky is to be taken home, I know she will be in a better place, but Sunday I was hurting. My flesh was broken and every time I think about it, it breaks me.
Vicky is a SWEET SWEET woman, who always loved me like her daughter. I made her very proud and I was proud to be loved by her!
I will update as I can.
