Garner made this Native American head dress at mother's day out.

We are leaving town tomorrow for New Orleans and will be gone till Sunday. Our friends have a condo in the Lower Garden District and we'll be staying there with them (the Gregs.) Greg B, Baby Greg, and I are flying and Erick, Garner, and Greg C are driving WEd. I can't wait to get there and do a little shopping and a lot of eating. We'll be having lunch at Ralph's On The Park. Here's the menu:

And YES, Garner will be wearing that hat.
But seriously...We all have so many blessings for which we should be thankful. When teaching class last week I happened upon a website which had the list of the passengers on the Mayflower. You could click on each name and get the birth and death dates and a short life history of each. It was very shocking to me, though I already knew over half the pilgrims and crew of the ship died before the first Thanksgiving. They must have been so desparate to take such a risk with their families. There were only FOUR women to survive until the 1st Thanksgiving. Life was so different then. Then my students reminded me that life is not so different today(than the pilgrims' lives then) in the countries they have come from, especially in the Middle East and in Africa (Sudan namely.) They are so thankful to be living somewhere safe.
SO I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and that you count your blessings. I will, and all of you will be included in them
