Hello everyone, I am new to this. My name is Amy, I had a D&C May 8th, I was what I thought 9 weeks pregnant but the baby had died a little over 6 weeks. I am wanting to try again as soon as I can, The Doctor told me to wait until at least august. I am waiting but impatiently.
3 weeks ago I had a brown discharge for about a week and am still trying to determine if that was a period or what was that? Hoping some one could shed some light on what to expect in the next few months after a D&C. And wanting to conceive again right away. I am basically wanting to stay on top of everything that way when august comes I can hopefully be successful at getting pregnant again. But I haven't had a real period yet. I was thinking maybe I was pregnant again this soon after but the HPT came back negative. Wondering if I should try again next week if I haven't had a normal period. I did call my nurse last week to try to get some answers but she sounded busy and lost, so now I am hoping for answer from some women who have experienced anything like this. Thanks. Amy

Hi Amy....I'm Mandy and I just came across your post....First of all, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I experienced a loss 2 years ago and also had to have a D&C. I had my D&C on June 9th and didn't have a period until around July 24th. But it was a "regular" period (color wise, etc.). The brown discharge could just be old blood, or it could very well be your period (I know this doesn't help much, but these periods can be tricky!). I was also advised to wait at least 3 months before conceiving again.....but when my period never started that August (2 months after my loss) I tested and got a negative.....then when AF was about 2-3 weeks late on Sept. 9th, I tested "just to be sure" (even though I didn't think I was....I just thought that my cycles were out of whack after the D&C) I was indeed pregnant again. Now, I'm not saying to get your hopes up or anything since you're not sure if that was your period or not.....but it won't hurt to take another test next week if you haven't started by then. If it's negative I would just call your doctor and let them know that you don't think you've had a period since your D&C. I hope this helps in some way.
