Default Sorry I've been MIA~*Update*~

Just thought I'd give yall an update...My doctor is 4 hours away (where my parents live)..so I go up there and stay for a week at a time (with NO computer) when I have a doctors appt. I'm just now getting home, so I'm sorry it took so long for the update. Thanks to everyone that asked questions & sent PMs. Yall are too sweet.

So last Monday was my beta, and of course it was negative. Well then I told the nurse about the pains I was having "down there", and they sent me for an U/S. I get in there and the nurse is like "You only have ONE ovary right?" .....I was like "Noooooooo, I'm SUPPOSED to have TWO". So she keeps looking and looking and FINALLY notices the problem. My ovaries are not only swollen 5 times the size they're supposed to be, but they're also twisted & HOOKED together, meeting in the middle and bearing down on my uterus. And the most LOVELY part is..I had 23 Cysts. I couldn't hardly BELIEVE it. So of course they gave me pain/anti-nausea pills for my symptoms and diagnosed me with OHSS. I KNEW I had it to begin with, but it felt like it had went away for the most part. So then my doctor tells me "The best part about this is that in MOST cases the OHSS returns, the patient is defintely pregnant". (This was before I got my beta back). Wellllllllllll, then when they phoned her in and told her it was negative (I was still in her office), she told me that what happened was probably a chemical & that it couldn't attach all of the way b/c my ovaries were bearing down on my uterus or whatever. Lovely huh? Oh, and she also said that that was the reason i started bleeding so early (8dpiui). She said she is ALMOST positive that it wasn't my progesterone..buuuut, just in CASE, shes putting me on PIO shots next time. GREAT.

Sooo, whats my PLAN? They put me on TWO packs of BCP (while skipping the 4th row of pills) to keep my cycles somewhat normal while my ovaries shrink back down, get in their right place, and my cysts go away. I'm having my hysteroscopy & laproscopy (sp??) on May 2nd. I told her I wanted one done before I went onto my next IUI and she said that she would definitely do one but she wants my ovaries to be smaller so she dont risk the chance of puncturing them. So she said that the day before the surgery I stop taking my BCP and that after the surgery I will have a period (like starting that day). The next period AFTER that is when I start my shots/IUI again. She said that even though I had a very high e2 level and lots of eggs, she still wants me to do that same dosage of follistim next time. The earliest we're looking at is the end of June.

I'm kinda depressed that I have to wait out until June, but then again kinda happy that I have another plan. I just have to keep reminding myself that there is a reason behind every bit of delay.

Thanks for listening girls...and thanks again for checking on me!

wow, that is quite a lot to have to deal with. the ladies on the IVF board chug water like crazy to help ward off OHSS, i thankfully have never had it (and hope never will) but i've heard it is an agonizing pain. on the bright side, it sounds like your tubes work and eggie and sperm can meet so that's a good thing. with a little tweaking it sounds like you'll be preggo before you know it. Wow Erin, you have been through a lot. Sorry for your rollercoaster ride but I am glad that you have a plan and know what is going on. I have had a lap and a myomectomy. Neither was as bad as it sounded. I hope that after all this is over you get your bfp quickly. Good luck to you.

oh wow
what a horrible thing to go through. I have read about it and yes, drink LOTS of water! I can't beleive how much the hormones in ttc treatments can wreck havoc. (specially the hcg trigger when OHSS is involved)
please rest lots and take care of yourself!
