Question about evap lines
Hey, everyone! Well here I am at 12 dpo, and this morning I figured I'd held off POAS long enough. So when I woke up at 5 a.m. to use the bathroom (which is normal for me), I POAS and immediately went back to bed. When I got up at 7, I checked the stick and was surprised to see a faint line - faint enough that I didn't see it when I first glanced down, but it was def. there when I held it up to the light. Then I showed it to DH, and he saw too, so I know it's not just me. I just don't know if it's an evap line, since I've never seen one of those before (usually I just see pure, ugly whiteness next to the control line). I tried to take a pic but nothing showed up. So...anyone know how to tell when you're looking at an evap line?

how exciting!!!! i am the queen of evap lines... i have had all kinds... so i am of no help.
what test did you use? i have found that the tests with the blue lines gave me the most evap lines.... the FRER didn't give me an evap line at all.
i really hope this is your month!

Re: Question about evap lines
From what I've heard, color is a factor - if it has color, it is not generally an evap line. Evap lines are usually colorless, harder to see, and can look a bit like a dent sometimes. HOWEVER, because you did not read the test until long after the 10 minute mark, you have no idea when the line showed up. I'd suggest taking another test either later today or tomorrow . . . that way, you don't get your hopes up too early. Sorry - I don't mean to sound negative, but I just think it would be horrible to get all worked up and excited, and then find out the test was negative. I'd rather write off the test, then be surprised by a BFP!

Re: Question about evap lines
Tkeys - Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic, while at the same time waiting for to show up at any time (she's due tomorrow).
Jenn - I used an internet cheapie test that shows two pink lines. I was absolutely shocked when I saw the line; like I said in my earlier post, I've never seen anything show up before! But, I'm sure that has more to do with the tests I've been using than me. I plan to POAS again tomorrow a.m. I was gonna wait until Friday if I got a clear today, but now I'm just too dang impatient!
There are a few things that are different this cycle that are leading me to hold out hope, like the fact that I'm actually missing a lot of my usual AF-sxs (sore bbs, nausea). Also, my lower back has been absolutely killing me the past week or so. It came on very suddenly one day when I was walking my dog. Not to the point that I had to stop walking, just highly annoying, and it's been hanging around ever since. I can't think of anything I could've done to hurt myself. And then last night I woke up twice to pee (once per night, usually around 5 a.m., is normal for me). The first time I woke up (at about 12:30), I had to pee so bad, I was actually in pain. Very strange! Especially considering I had just used the bathroom before I went to bed at around 11:00. So...like I said, I'm trying not to read too much into anything, since so many pg sxs are also AF sxs, and others might be either coincidence or wishful thinking. I'm just waiting for that , then I'll start getting excited!
How are you feeling, Jenn?

Re: Question about evap lines
I would say to definitely give it another go in the morning, and DONT go back to bed until the ten minutes are up
The general rule is to dismiss any line with colour or not that shows up after ten minutes.
Ive had my fair share of evap lines too, and even though they had slight colour.... they turned out to be
Sooo... NOT to sound like a negative nelly, but POAS again in the morning and post us RIGHT AWAY, lol...

Re: Question about evap lines
UGH! Well I got up at 6 a.m. to POAS, then went back to bed, setting my alarm for 5 mins later. When the alarm went off, I got up and checked the test in the dim nightlight in my bathroom - nothing. According to the test instructions, you should be able to read results within 3-5 mins. So, I go back to bed for another hour and then when I get up, there is a clear (but faint) line that I can see immediately in the bright overhead light. :AF is due today, and I had a temp decrease of .31 this morning, so I have a feeling the witch is just around the corner. I'm pretty convinced now that what I'm seeing are evap lines. I did get a pic this morning, and I will try to post it tonight after work so you all can scrutinize with me!
At this point my plan is to wait for :AF to show up and, if she doesn't in a day or two, test again. This is so frustrating!!

Re: Question about evap lines
'Morning! Well the witch didn't show yesterday, and except for a few, short-lived AF-type cramps early this morning, I have no sign that she's on her way. I got up to pee twice again last night, once at 3:00 and again at 6:30. The second time I POAS and actually checked (using the bright overhead light - what a novel idea ) in 5 mins. DH & I both saw a line, but it was still fairly faint. I would've thought that by now, at 14 dpo, it would be darker...? I'm going to call my ob's office as soon as they open and see if I can get in for a blood test. I'm still in utter disbelief, and I don't think I'll start getting excited until I get confirmation from them.
Normally I'm somewhat computer savvy, but I cannot figure out how to copy pics of my HPTs from yesterday and today into this message board. I have them in shutterfly, and I tried to copy the link, but it just takes you to my sign-in page. I'd love to share these pics with you all, so you can tell me what you see. Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
