Icon5 Long Periods?

Just in checking out other people's charts here and there, it looks like most people only have bleeding for a few days....mine is about 10 days from start to finish, and then sometimes spotting for a few days after. I am having some cycle problems that I'm trying to solve with my doctor (hence why I am supposed to wait to TTC until December but as mentioned before, we are truly addicted to baby making! Though realistically nothing will probably happen until things get fixed). I was wondering if anyone else has these long periods. My issue is that we are TTC a girl, and when doing that, you are supposed to stop BD about 4 days before O....I usually O on day 15 or so, so that basically gives us one day to go for it! How are we ever going to get pg with a one day window?? I'm starting to get frustrated. Also, my doctor has me off sugar, caffeine, alcohol, wheat, and dairy so I'm pretty much grumpy all day long Anyway, has anyone else dealt with this issue?
Thanks!
Monica

hmm....I don't know if 10 days is cause for concern but it does certainly make timing kind of hard.

I know there are some things that some girls on here do to shorten cycles, I don't know if that works for AF too.

Might be a question for your doctor though.

I have PCOS, and I tend to bleed for long periods of time (especially when I'm not on medicine). Dr. told me that bleeding for more than 7 days is sometimes a sign that you are not ovulating (or not ovulating properly). If most of the days are spotting, I've heard that can also be a sign of endometriosis. I'd say it might be a good idea to have your progesterone checked 7 DPO and see if that is what is going on with you.

Thanks for the advice...I guess its time to call my OB. The doctor that I always mention working with is actually my naturopathic doctor - I try to avoid seeing traditional practitioners if I can help it, but I think I probably need some testing done. Time is of the essence, unlike all you young newleyweds, I am an old married lady with a loudly ticking biological clock

How long have you been married?

Yes, I think you might want some tests, just so you'll know and have your mind at ease.

The first anniversary IS very special! Not that the 10th isn't, but its so different. The beginning of our marriage was wonderful, difficult, fun, challenging, passionate, etc - we traveled a lot, went out a lot, did crazy things together, couldn't get enough of each other... Now we have two kids and my husband is also daddy and I am mommy and my body produced two humans. Its such a different level of a relationship. Anyway....its been a long day with the munchkins, my brain is fried...what I am trying to say is enjoy this time when its just the two of you, try not to worry too much about TTC, it will happen when the time is right, it did for us!
OK I'm going to bed, LOL. Oh ya, when you are an old married couple like us with kids, a "special treat" that used to involve maybe some lingere and some edible body paints is now fighting over who gets to sleep on the couch with no baby monitors on!
