Icon5 beta question

Well I finally got my bfp on tuesday which would make me 13 dpo and on thursday morning I went and had a beta drawn and it was 81.0. Is that good or bad? My doctor never talked to me about it b/c I work in L&D and I just stopped him on my floor and asked him to write me an order to go to outpatient services for lab. I have a really bad feeling about this pregnancy. Ive been having a lot of cramping. No bleeding though. I thought it may be a cyst or gas. Im just really paranoid. If anyone could help me out that would be fantastic.

Mine was 10 at 12DPO and then 30 at 16DPO and then 81 18DPO so an 81 is great. Normal is between 30 and 426 from some of the web sites that I have visited in the past.

As long as it keeps doubling and yours looks like it has been then you should be fine. I would schedule a date with your OB and start getting appointments set up.

I will let you know my secert to staying sane, ( as possible ) .....I set small goals, 6 wks to see if there was a HB, 12 weeks to clear that 1st trimester, the Level II U/S and then making it to 28 weeks and then my due date. I have just pasted that Level II U/S with a 96% great reading. I have a cm of placenta that is covering the cervix so I am on placenta previa watch and there was 1 soft marker for downs in his heart. Everything else was great. Because of my age I am not doing any other testing, I want my son no matter what so I dont see any reason and most tests will come back false pos.

So good luck and enjoy your BFP

Oh thank you so much! I have about drove myself up the wall worrying. I got my 2nd beta done at 17 dpo and it was 128. I actually talked to one of the doctors I work with and he said that he doesnt consider the beta with number below 1000 and numbers greater than 100,000 very accurate. So with him saying that and your post makes me feel great! Im very happy that your u/s went well. Good luck and thank you again!

I can talk betas given my recent experience. Doubling is the most important thing, there's a great website www.betabase.info that has thousands of beta results from viable pregnancies. You can see by dpo what people's median values are and calculate your doubling time between draws. GL

Were the two tests taken at the same time of day? exactly 48 hrs apart?
If they were taken at the same time, it looks like the doubling time is about 3 days.

Yeah they took it two days apart at the same time. I just dont have a good feeling about this. Maybe Im just paranoid. Has anyone had low betas with a viable pregnancy or know anyone that did?

Well, the average doubling time is between 2 and 3 days, so you are still within the norm, just at the lower end. the Beta # itself is quite good though
Will you be having another beta done?
When I had my m/c, my hcg was 120, then the next draw it was 69.. We had caught my betas when they were already on their way down, so Im not much help in that department.

I had major cramps this time round, and of course, was scared to death of another m/c... at about 4 months along, they finally subsided....
funny
ttc makes us crazy, then we get that and the craziness continues, just takes a different route! argh!

No I finally talked to my doctor yesterday and he said that I just need to calm down and he would see me at the end of the month. I dont want to get another done, b/c I think Im over analyzing the numbers. If I dont quit stressing out, it will drive me nuts. It is funny how ttc makes you crazy, then when you finally get there its 10x worse. There really is no end until the baby is here!

I am the epitome of over analyzing. My first OB didn't even run betas, she felt there was too much discrepancy and error in them and only if you had a history of ectopic would order the draws. My RE essentially has said the same thing, the most important thing is the U/S. Still I know all too well the agony you feel right now.
