AHH the SAGA of my life continues!
Hello ladies, I am hoping that you could give me some options regarding...
When I found out I was pg I started looking around at different doctors. There was one thing that I would not compromise on...I wanted a VBAC. The only way reason I would consent to a c-section again is if the babies were breach or if it was medically necessary. I wanted to try to deliver naturally. I told my doctor this at our first meeting, he had informed that he has delivered several sets of twins and some were successful vaginal births, this included VBAC's as well.
Well here I am at 24 weeks, both babies are head down and doing great. My blood pressure is 120/76, that was after a stressful morning, usually it is 120/ 60. Weight gain is good, no signs of pc or gd. Yesterday he informed me that he no longer does VBAC's and that no later than my 37 week he would schedule me for a c-section. Just lovely.
Later that day I called back and informed his assistant that I found another doctor who is willing to do a VBAC, and to please send over my chart. Of course she agreed, I really like my doctor, but I really hate that he knew how I felt and lied to me...it seems he stopped doing VBACS years ago.
Here is why I don't want another c-section. After you have one you can not lift anything heavier then your baby for several weeks. I am a single mother with a four year old and that is not realistic. There are things that I need to do, and I don't have the time to recover form an operation. If I need to have one because one of the babies are in danger, then so be it, but it is NOT my first choice.
So ladies what are your thoughts.

Re: AHH the SAGA of my life continues!
Ive had a c-section every single time, for me, I found natural way too scarey, lol.. im a chicken, after the first birth ended in emergency c-section, I decided I couldnt handle that again.
Booked c-sections are easier than emerg and with the epimorph that I got in my spinal i was almost totally pain free. The recovery has been awesome. Had to remind myself not to over due it.
I can only imagine though trying to take it easy on your own, with a 4 year old and twins.
That sucks that your Dr lied. Lots of doctors wont do vbac due to liabilities, but I think he should have been honest about it!

I'm in your court. I want a VBAC too. I don't know how that works in Canada (Shilo - thoughts?), but in the US, alot of doctors are hesitant to do it. And since I'm having trouble with OHIP and haven't seen a doctor yet, I'm hoping that it won't be too late to go VBAC.

Re: AHH the SAGA of my life continues!
I couldn't agree with you more! If I were to get pg again, I would definately want a VBAC. My pg ended with an emergency C-section, but I giving birth is a very personal experience and women should be able to experience it the way they would like, except of course in emergency situations. I don't think the doctors understand how we feel when we aren't able to deliver vaginally. Maybe it's just me, but I want to experience pushing the baby out, call me crazy!!! I hope you get your VBAC and enjoy the rest of your pg.
