Okay, so I've been testing twice a day for over a week now and I started to see the faint line 3 days ago. Last night the test line was as dark or maybe even darker than the control line. Yeah!! Now today it was real faint at noon and I just did another one and it there but definetly lighter than the control line but a little darker than at noon. I did have a temp dip this morning. We are trying for a boy. We are suppose to do it 24 hrs after we get a positive. Which would be right now. Is it normal for it to only be positive one day. I know it means it not positive anymore now that the line is lighter. HELP! How long after the LH surge is detected is it suppose to test positive on an OPK? I guess we will wait till next month to try for the boy. So I have time to figure this out. Any extra OPK info would be so helpful.

A postive OPK means you will O anywhere from 12-48 hours after you get that positive. Many of us will only get one positive, and others may see positives for a couple of days. It's the FIRST positive that counts since it is that surge that will get the ball rolling. Your results are not abnormal. Good Luck!

okay, so getting one positive is normal then back to the faint. Gottcha. Makes sense. So after I get this positive, I should wait 24 hours from then to try for the boy. Anybody?

I test in the AM then at night. Mine usually lasts 24 hours too. By the next morning it's negative. I peak at about 4 pm. Good luck and get busy!

That's a tough question. Remember, I said you can O 12-48 hours after a peak. Let's say that your surge actually started at noon, but you tested at 8PM. You are alread 8 hours into O. 24 hours after surge would be noon the next day. So if you wait until 8PM the next night, it may be way too late. Also, if you O'd in the 12 hours range, rather than the 24 hours range (rare, but it does happen often enough to be aware of it) then you would have O'd by midnight. Does that make sense?

I am also trying the boy method. All the books I have read about it say as close to ovulation is what you need. Do not have sex 2 or 3 days before ovulation. I did it as soon as we saw a poitive or a temp change and made sure we abstained the whole week before we saw a sign. Hope this helps but I am always nervous we will miss our window.

Heres, what I'll do. I will get the positive OPK. Hopefully the next morning through charting BBT I will see my Temp dip. Then whe will get it on that day! Fingers will be crossed day after will be the Temp shift upward and it will stay that way for many many days.
