Default cervical position

I know that your cervix becomes soft and raised before ovulation and then gets hard like the tip of you nose after. Any one know how long before Oing it becomes soft? A few days, a week? Me and the DH are trying this month for a boy using Shettles method. I'm on cycle day 9 which seem early for me. I usally O on day 16, although last cycle I Oed on CD 27. I had a MC in Sept my body was still getting back to normal. I guess it could be this cycle too. Maybe last cycle was long and this one will be short. I can't judge by my CM because I'm taking Alfalfa, EPO and some other things which have increased it so much that every day is EWCM. Yeah, for real. Anyway, I have a bunch of OPK. I wasn't planning on starting to use them for a few days. I guess I could start now. Really wondering though about my super soft cervix and how long durning your cycle dose it stay this way.

Using the cervix for O'ing is not as reliable as CM. My CP is so weird that I can't trust it. If you have that EWCM and since your O days have been different each time I would use the OPK's right away. You never know! Good luck, Shannon.

Thanks Tiffany, I started using them yesterday. I don't want to miss my window. I was also thinking maybe I shoud stop taking all those things to increase my CM. It seemed fine before and so much easier to read. Any way, hopefully it will work out for me this month. My fingers are still crossed for you.

I have a hard time with CP also. I have gotten good at telling when it's soft, but it always seems to be soft and low not soft and up! So who knows! I'd start using the OPK's whenever you think it's important! Good luck!

I'm usually High, Soft, and Open for 2 days before I ovulate.

I've seen a list somewhere about checking your cervix and I've lost it now. Jist of it is:

Low: feel when inserted to the first knuckle
Medium: 2nd knuckle
High: Obviously hard to reach (WAY up there!!)

Firm: feels like your nose, smaller in size and thick
Medium: feels like your forehead, bigger in size than firm
Soft: feels like your lips, very large in size and thinner

Closed: cervix feels flat
Medium: slight dip in center of cervix
Open: obvious dip in center of cervix, may even be able to feel os open (like tip of penis), can also feel "bumps" or texture on cervix

Anyway, I hope this helps. It's just a guideline but helped me out tremendously when I first started checking my cervix.

I see that you posted this a while ago, Shannon. I'm new here, I just popped over to ask exactly the same question. My cervix is so high, open and soft that I am convinced I will be Oing soon, but still no CM at all. None. How many days did it finally take for you to O?

I believe it was like 4 days maybe more before I O'd that is was soft. Now I'm 9dpo and my cervix is still soft but not very high. Maybe I'm preggo or maybe no. The wait is killing. Still atleast 4 more days to go. Good luck.
