This is a discussion on OPK Pictures within the Fertility Monitors/OPK's forums, part of the Trying to Conceive - General Discussion category; Ok, I *think* I got a positive OPK. The instructions say that the test line should as dark or darker ...
Ok, I *think* I got a positive OPK. The instructions say that the test line should as dark or darker than the test line after 10 min. About 60 seconds after taking the test there was a faint line. After 10 min. this is what I got. I had no idea it was so difficult to get a good picture of these things. What do you think??.....
YAY! I swear you'd think it was a positive preg test as excited as I got. I think I was just so SICK of seeing that single line haha. Two lines was so thrilling even if it is just an OPK! haha.
So did the positive happen all of a sudden or was it a gradual thing? Meaning the line got darker each time? I am still waiting on my positive OPK. I'm on day 16 now and I am starting to worry that it's not going to happen..
Well I started testing early because my cycle has been off since stopping BCP. So I started testing on Tues (7-10)
Tues.- No line at all even after 10 min.
Wed.- Same thing as Tue.
Thu. - FAINT and I mean FAINT line
Fri.- A tiny bit darker, well let's say more visible.
Sat. - Line was a LITTLE bit darker than on Fri but still def. neg.
Sun. - Line was faint about 60 sec after I took the test, at 10 min it was darker than the control line.
ou_sooner_sweetie: Just keep testing - mine gradually got darker (although I had a few days where I thought it was getting darker, then I got a lighter test the next day). I didn't O until CD 19, and I got my +OPK on CD 18 & 19. I wasn't 100% sure the test on CD18 was positive . . . it was a close call. It was really frustrating - I was sure there was something wrong and I was never going to O. Just try and relax. How long are your cycles normally?
GL! and congrats on the +opk - I know how excited I was to see things working this month, so I hear ya!
Thanks for the info everyone! I have PCOS so my cycles are a little crazy. But the good thing is that for the last 6 months or so I have been having a period about every month and my cycles have been around 35 - 45 days long. The doctor put me on Clomid 50 mg to help me ovulate.
I bought the answer 20 strip OPK and started testing on day 10 I think. At first there was hardly any line at all. I had to squint to see it. On CD 12 a light line started to appear and I think it has only gotten a very very tiny, hard to tell, bit darker. Yesterday on CD 16 the line was lighter than the previous days line so I got really frustrated. That sounds like what happened to you 'TKEYS'. So I have hope yet. I'm not on 17 and will test this afternoon. I am hoping for a positive or even just a darker line will be fine. I hate thinking that I'm not going to ovulate and waste the whole month.
I'm sorry I meant to say that I AM on day 17.
TKEYS- You said that your line got lighter and then darker? Was it lighter one day and then darker almost positive the next or did it take a few days after that to turn positive?
I thought I was supposed to get my peak on CD 15, like I did last month. As a "backup" (because I don't really believe I'm ovulating normally even though everything keeps indicating I am), I started to use OPKs in addition to the fertility monitor. I used the first one on CD 13, and it was totally negative. I used one on CD14, and there was a slightly darker line. I used it again on CD15, and it was lighter again, then on CD16 & CD17, the line was progressively darker, and then on CD 18, I got my first positive. It was just barely positive - the two lines were the same color intensity, but not as thick. I used another one on CD19, and I got a really strong, clear, unquestionable positive.
As I understand it, some people have them fade in slowly, and with others, it is an overnight change. HTH!
Thanks for your input. I have been lightly cramping today. Not neccessarily a real cramp but things just feel tighter in my lower abd. My CM is different today too so I am just counting down the minutes until I get to go home and test. I'll post what the results are after I get them....
Good luck! I had pretty bad cramping and egg white CM for like 5 or 6 days this time before I finally O'd . . . so if you don't get your positive yet, don't worry - it is coming!

Thanks. That makes me feel better especially after my OPK was negative again today. I was sooo sure it was going to be positive. Are you on Clomid or going au natural?
I'm on metformin, but nothing else yet. This is my first month ttc, but my 2nd cycle off of bcp. I was diagnosed with pcos when i was 12, and have mostly been on bcp since then. I went off bcp briefly about 7 or 8 years ago because there was new information about treatment of pcos using metformin, and my dr wanted to test my levels off of bcp before starting me on new medicine. I can't remember exactly what happened then, but my cycles weren't normal, I went back to 2week+ periods, and I might have had a hemorrhaging episode. About 3 years ago, my ob switched me to a newer brand of bcp, and I had a bad reaction to it (caused heart palpitations) so I had to go off the pill and the metformin again for a few months - I started hemorrhaging. I went back on bcp and metformin - this was the first time I had ever been off bcp and taking metformin. My current doctor seems to think everything is okay and working fine, but I'm having trouble believing it is really all okay. I have also had a few normal cycles before things have gone haywire, so I'm patiently waiting to see. My doctor said she would put me on Clomid if my cycles get crazy, but so far she sees no reason to do anything.
Oh - and I've actually found temping useful . . . the day before I got my positive OPK, my temperature dropped significantly. I've had a slow rise in temperature, but a rise nonetheless, so I think I can confirm that ovulation really happened. I don't know - information makes me feel more in control and worry less - I know it has the opposite effect on some people.
Well I went home last night and tested and I got a negative (3 TIMES). I normally only test once but I was sooo sure yesterday that I was going to ovulate soon so I just KNEW there was something wrong with the darn tests. I got up this morning and my temp has dropped tremendously. It was 95.8 which it has been around 97 something.
I have PCOS also. My lab tests all came back normal but since I was overweight and had missed my period for so long they said I had PCOS. I am now on Metformin 1500 mg and Clomid 50. It's nice to meet people who have the same problems. You girls are great.
