Default Are your local schools air-conditioned???

Many of our public schools in Indianapolis do not have AC. It's been on the news how school has started and these kids are sweltering in the heat... no able to concentrate on their work cause it's so darn hot.

It's amazing to me that this is happening! No we don't live in CA or FL, but it gets to be in the high 90s in August, even in Indiana!

It's the same here. Many of the public schools don't have a/c. Until it cools down, the beginning of September, all of the schools have half days. It's good that there not in the hot buildings in the afternoons, but what about their parents. They would have to find care for their children, b/c most parents work f/t and can't get off at noon just b/c their kids do. I think they need to give the school districts sufficent money. This might mean raising taxes, which would be fine with me if it was for schools and not to help fund building Gander Mt. store and a new arena when we already have one.

Here in Iowa there are some that do adn some that don't. Many of the older buildings do not have AC. In our district there are 2 buildings that the kids go to school in, elementry and then teh middle and high school is together. The elementry has AC, but only part of the middle/high school does. There are many days that school is dismissed early due to the heat in our area.
