We *might* be re-locating to Des Moines in the near future. I've never been there...could anyone give me more information. What's the city like? How are the schools. Are they safe? I know it's a big city, but what's there to do with children? Anything fun? What's the zoo like? I've went to a few websites, but they don't give me the info that I'm looking for. Thanks ladies!

Hi there! We just relocated to this area in June (from the Chicago suburbs) and I LOVE it here!! We have 5 children and there's plenty to do... lots of parks, pools, activities, etc. We haven't been to the zoo yet, though! I don't ever plan to leave... it seems like the perfect size city. Saftey? absolutely! I know there are "unsafe" areas, but compared to where we came from... not really! PM me if you'd like to talk more.

Hi there! I lived in the area for over 4 years and it's a good place to live. The zoo is awesome, but it's nothing like the Omaha Zoo or anything bigger. In fact, we are going to the zoo tonight for what they call Night Eyes. The children get to dress up in their costumes and go on a candy trail through out the zoo. There is a huge new mall called Jordan Creek that we take our son to play in the play area and he loves it. The suburbs are awesome. I work at the Police Department and my husband is a Deputy so we have an idea which places NOT to live in. 2 Do live on the east side!
