I usually had O pain aprox every other cy when I was younger.. But it was only severe b/c I had a huge cyst on one ovary After that was removed I would say it was uncomfortable but not painful really. I had an ectopic pg a few years back and stopped Oing for about a year and 1/2 after it.. Took a low dose of clomid to get things back up and running and the 1st cy I oed HOLY CRAPOLA! Talk about blowing the dust of my rusted up system b/c it HURT

Anyway, I have heard women say their usual O was uncomfortable, like a pinch or needle pricks.. Sharp GWIM?.. Some say it's like dull cramping or aching. And it was usually short lived (not longer then briefly, couple hours, not longer then 1/2 a day usually) I would say if O is "painful" or comes w/ more cramping/discomfort then usual, maybe a quick trip to the doc and ask about it??

Well, if you get cysts.. It may be a good idea.. I know having the odd cyst is no problem for most women (they kinda come and go and some stay and are not a problem)...But hey, if it's making O not so fun.. Looking into it may be a good plan.

Ever since I went off of the low dose birth control and stopped nursing dd last Sept., I have had bad ovulation pain lasting 2-4 days. The cramping is worse then af. I have had several tests done- laparoscopy 4/06, CT scan of pelvis 7/06, cystoscopy 7/06, Dr wants to do bladder biopsy to see if it is interstitial cystitis, and a sigmoidoscopy 7/06 to make sure the pain wasnt from irritable bowel. I know its somehow related to ovulation because thats when I get the pain. Interestingly enough, I had an anovulatory cycle in July and didnt have the pain. Anyway, I think I know what youre going through. Talk to your Dr or MW and good luck finding answers. Keep us updated.
