Default New to Charting

Hello all- I am new to this site and am looking for a few answers to questions that have. I hope that some of you can answer for me.
First off I will start by telling you all my story. My name is Gina and I am 30 yrs old I have been married for 10 years. We have one son who is now 5 and we are trying to give him a baby sister or brother.
I was able to conceive our son within 4 months of trying. At the time I didn't know I had any problems. The day that my son was delivered the DR told us that I have to complete uterus's. my cervix only goes to one of the uterus's and I only one ovary in the uterus that "works". During my u/s nothing ever showed up. Lets just say it was a little bit of a surprise to both my DH and myself. When our son was 1.5 years we decided it was time to try again. We thought it would be as simple as going off BC again and it would happen eventually. I wasn't regular so that hampered things for us. I when to the DR and they ran all the test that they could think of to run (several times) and nothing ever came back wrong. So I was doing research on my own and was reading up on PCOS, I had A LOT of the symptoms for that and took my research to the DR. They agreed that that indeed could be another problem with me so the put me on 100mg of metformin a day. I have been on that for over a year now and also tried colmid W/ pravera. That did nothing for us. We decided I would go back on BC, I did so for 8 months got regular (so to speak) and went off again 6 months ago. I have had a cycle for the last 6 months on my own while still taking the Metformin. No results so far. I know that everyone at this point is saying it has only been 6 months but it doesn't seen that way. I am getting ready to ask again if I can try clomid a few more times.
I was wanting to know where I could get a chart and start charting my BBT. I will have to set my alarm so that way I get the temp done close to the same time every day. What is the best time to start doing your BBT? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Gina

My advice would be to go buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" if you don't already have it. You can buy the charting software for that (it's for life) or go to www.FertilityFriend.com. They have a free chart or you can buy the membership. I personally would recommend the Taking Charge of Your Fertility (TCOYF) software, which you can purchase at www.Ovusoft.com. It's a little expensive, but you have it for life, and it will help you to acheive pregnancy, with family planning or just staying informed about your cycles. If you ever decide you don't want it, you can sell your registration number. If you want a hard copy to keep by your bedside, go to www.fairhavenhealth.com and they have free downloadable, printable charts there. HTH! GL!

I agree with Cassandra, those are all great resourses, they will help you find out if you are O'ing, and if your progesterone levels are good/sustaining.

You can start at anytime in your cycle, but you may not see any shift if you start too late in your cycle. Most women start with the first day of mensus, to get the whole picture

Thank you. I wont start until my next cycle. I will have to wait 2 weeks or so but If I get a better picture straight off from the beginning then I will wait.

You can start observing cervical fluid and feeling in the mean time, and start getting an idea of how your body is working

I was on Metformin and it never regulated my cycles. After 2 failed ivf's, my endo increased my dose to 2000mg, up from 1500, and added 30mg of Actos. I had natural cycles for the first time in my life. It was that combination that did it after about 3 months.

I would suggest seeing an endocrinologist as they are the experts in that field. Met. alone helps some women and maybe your dose needs to be increased a little. I assume you meant 1000mg, not 100mg. I really never thought that just adding Actos would work, but it did. I reread your post, so you are ovulating on met., right?

I like FF for charting. You've come to the right place for help. Charting is such a valuable tool even though it's easy to obsess a little too much. You'll learn a lot about your body through charting. And I ditto the TCOYF book. It's a must read! I hope you can find your copy soon!

I would also suggest that your dh get tested. You never know what can change. We thought our issues were all about me, but a thorough s/a confirmed we had male factor issues as well. All the post coital tests and even a quick s/a never caught the male factor issues.
