Are you chaning things because of gas prices?
We have known for a long time that we had to do this, but when it cost $70 to put 3/4 tank of gas in the minivan the other day, it clicked that we have to do it like yesterday: we're trading in the truck and the minivan and getting one car. I hate driving a car and I hate having no vehicle while DH is at work, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Even with one vehicle, we'll have to cut way back on our driving. We live in an outlying region, and have been driving 25km or so into town at least 3 times a week (okay, this is mostly my fault) and that has got to change.
I hear natural gas prices are goint to be up this winter so it's going to cost more to keep the house at a comfortable temperature, and that is something I'm really going to have a hard time compromising on, since I really like to be warm. We did move the big tv and satellite receiver upstairs so that we won't be turning the heat up to try and keep the recroom downstairs warm.
So, are you changing things or is it just us?

Oh my gosh, I really hate it when I mess up the title. I so wish I could edit. That is really going to bug me. I'm so anal.

It would bug me, too. I have come to terms with being anal.
We haven't really changed our ways...yet. But then again, I drive a coupe and dh has a sedan. Hardly the gas guzzlers. I don't drive all that much when dh isn't home, just errands and bring Alex to school.
I hope that you don't miss your minivan too much.

We are not changing anything right now, we only have one car and drive to work together, dh did change a bit though...not stepping on the feeder too hard hee hee...besides that that's it for now. We travel a lot to see family and they do pay our gas for the trip as there will be no way that they won't see Camille.

Re: Are you chaning things because of gas prices?
yeah, we are trying not to drive if it's not necessary ie. walking to the pet supply store and the drugstore which are within walking distance rather than driving cause it's easier. we are currently paying $3.25 a gallon, and they are saying natural gas is going up 70% this winter... yikes!! we are seriously considering looking at solar energy for the house, down here Home Depot will actually install it for you... we're going to look at prices and shop around a bit, but i think it is something we are going to get serious about in the near future.

Re: Are you chaning things because of gas prices?
Dh and I were planning to get a car this winter but have decided to try to get through at least one more without one. We moved out East this past December from downtown Toronto where we didn't need a car at all as *everything* is in walking distance. Where we are now we need a car to get pretty much anywhere. In the summer I don't mind so much because I love to walk so I the extra long distance doesn't bother me but it would be too hard in the winter. I guess I'm just in for another winter of going stir crazy indoors. Maybe in the spring we will look at one, but we've gone this long without one, a few more months won't kill us!

Re: Are you chaning things because of gas prices?
My dh is going to be car pooling to work from now on. Isn't it crazy? Unbelieveable to say the least!
What was the kike for Natural Gas..13%? And we thought last year our bills were a lot of $$. I don't know what we are going to do. I saw some portable heaters at Canadian Tire. We only have one but I want more b/c we cannot afford that much of an increase with me being a SAHM.
