On an individual Basis mostly Yes. I know many Americans that I would consider Friends. However, I've also meet many who I believe are rude, immoral and who's politics I just don't agree with!
That being said, I don't think it is "Americans" but the individual person!

Of course I do. In the US of A, there are lots of great, good hearted people. There are also some really bad apples and some people that are just turds. I could say the same for any country in the world, including Canada.
I'm surprised, and disappointed, by the results of the poll.
having lived in the U.S. for about 6 months now, i can say that there are many things about Americans that i don't like, but i've also made some very dear friends. some things that are different from Canada:
people are more open about racism (i have found this quite shocking actually)
people are a lot more uneducated about the world outside the U.S. than i expected
and yes, they can be rude, greedy etc but there are an awful lot of rude and greedy Canadians too!!
Of course there are some americans that I love and those that I don't but all in all they definately are a different breed. None of which is their fault. They for the most part are brought up thinking that the US is the end all and be all in the world. They are a self sufficient country and therefore does not need to know about anything else that goes on in the world around them. In school of course I learned canadian history but I also learned world history and american history. I can sing the star spangled banner and correctly name all US states and place them on a map. They have only learned american history and the fact that canada is a bigger country (land wise) probably came as a huge shock to many.
the one thing that I love about americans is that generally when being made fun of right to their face they really don't get it. I live on the border and while the americans here are generally a little more educated about canada they still come up with the most bizzarre comments and questions.... and if its a really stunned comment of course I am going to agree to it, simply for my own entertainment.
